Anime Characters with Scars or Face marks, Samurai-like Outfit and Mysterious Past

This ( the pic attached in this post) was my fan art drawing for a random crossover of anime/manga characters from 3 different series. Manji from Blade of Immortal (front below), Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin/ Samurai X (middle) and Sesshomaru from Inuyasha (up).   

There was a certain reason why I chose them to be featured in one crossover drawing. Aside from them as likable characters for me, I found that their stories also rather interesting in a way somehow they shared similar traits of becoming a good man after horrible wrong doings they've done in the past. 

Firstly, Manji from Blade of Immortal. Actually, I knew him from the live action movie rather than the manga. I watched the movie back then a few years ago and it was good. In brief, he needed to redeemed himself from his 'sins' for killing many people in the past by living his life way longer and did good things after he met a 'witch' worm who cursed him. He embarked on a journey to get rid of the curse and to accompany Rin, an orphan who reminded him a lot of his late sister. 

The next one would be Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin or also known as Samurai X. This one was much more famous as manga, anime even in live action movies. His story revolved around his atonement after living his past life as samurai by not killing anyone anymore to the point of using his reverse blade. A blade that won't kill his opponent. However, the past haunted him throughout his new life.

As for the last one would be Sesshomaru from Inuyasha series. He was not the main protagonist in the story as the other two I've mentioned earlier nor having certain scars on his face as theirs, but he shared the same dark past which eventually changed along the way. He hated his half brother (Inuyasha) for being existed and thought that his existence was a disgrace for his kind. He also hated human, however, it all changed after he met Rin, a naive and kindhearted little orphan girl who insisted to follow him everywhere although he ignored her most of the time. In the end, that girl slowly changed his heart in viewing things in his life.

That's all for the short explanation as to why I drew this fan art with these 3 characters.     

 

Villain in Anime Series

 I love anime (Japanese cartoon series) since I was a child back then. For me it was somehow fascinating to watch someone's imagination and fantasy came to life. Just similar to life, anime series depicted a story which somehow related to life itself or mimicking parts of it. Especially in terms of good and bad, human desires and ambition, etc. In this post I will only write about some villains in some anime series I've watched or at least read in manga (Japanese comic).

There are several characters as seen in the drawing I've made for this post, such as (from top left to right bottom order) Aizen from Bleach, Griffith from Berserk, Makima from Chainsawman, Cossette from Le portrait de petit Cossette, Eren from Attack on Titan, Pain from Naruto, Kaname from Vampire Knight, and Sukuna from Jujutsu Kaisen. 

These villains were villains with different purposes and reasons. Some were manipulative and bad from the beginning, some were driven by their backgrounds and pitiful fate they've gone through and some were forced by their own condition to turn bad in the process. One thing in common out of all is they were mostly powerful.

Somehow I personally can relate with them in a way of picturing them as characters of some normal human can be in reality. Apart from how evil they were, they live for a purpose in the story.    

   

ANIME PRODIGY CHARACTERS: ITACHI - YORIICHI - L

In every anime I've watched, there is always a prodigy character with special skill or talent that will be loved by anime fans no matter how the ending would be for them in the main story. I chose these 3 characters from 3 different anime which I think shares the same trait and vibe throughout their own anime series. There might be more than just  these 3 but for now, I will write only about them.

Firstly, Uchiha Itachi. The Akatsuki member, the prodigy from his clan and his village, mysterious, powerful but hold a tragic life of being misunderstood because he sacrifice his clan for the sake of peace. He was literally intimidating to everyone around him and that was the most admiring part from his character. Although his ending was death after fighting his own little brother in his dying state, he was famous and loved by fans for he might truly won if he was in his normal condition. Quiet, handsome and unpredictable were some of the obvious part of his character too. I love his character until I drew him many times since the first time he appeared in the Naruto series back then.

The next one would be Tsugikuni Yoriichi. The prodigy from Demon Slayer anime series. He was the legacy in demon slayer corps, the most powerful ever to exist until Muzan himself as the main villain, developed the PTSD after fighting him and nearly killed in the process if he didn't manage to getaway. Yoriichi was a selfless, kind and talented character that came from a noble family and tried to be the black sheep in his family for his twin brother who felt unrivaled by him. He lost everything but he stayed kind 'til the end of his life. the only thing that defeated him was age and not any enemy. He was also the quiet, handsome, mysterious with a super talent no one in the series can ever surpassed even it is the main character himself. I loved him after learning his story in the anime and drew him several times and one of them with Itachi.

The last one would be L or  Lawliett from Deathnote Anime Series. The quiet, mysterious and truly smart man with weird gestures who tried to help to solve the murder cases done by Light Yagami. He was unfairly killed after solving the cases and then provoking the coward villain for his crimes. His legacy lived on and carried out by his successors, M and N. His panda eyes due to lack of sleep, wearing white long sleeve t-shirt and jeans also the way he sat on the chair while weirdly holding the teacup was one of the noticeable signature from him. I just like him for being somehow look like a smart weirdo but nonetheless still intimidating for his enemies.

    

 

Villains who never won in Cartoon Series: Wile E Coyote & Droopy

Classic cartoons that I'm familiar with, tend to show the black and white, good and bad clearly by showing which one is the good one and which one is the bad one. And the bad one always the loser.

The same goes with these two classic cartoon series of Wile E Coyote and Droopy. Wile E Coyote is obviously a coyote who never stop chasing the blue bird as his prey and came up with a bunch of tricks to do so. However, he keeps failing and failing to catch it no matter what.

Meanwhile Droopy is a sheriff who has the duty to catch the wolf as the criminal. The wolf always tried to escape and also do something to harm him but always failed. 

It is as simple as that. It kind of different with nowadays cartoon with more shady grey characters. Anyway, I would still enjoy the cartoon as a lighthearted  entertainment.

Grant Your Wishes: Fairly Odd Parents X Doraemon

I drew these fan art drawings and combined it here to discuss an oddly similar premise of the series in certain part, which is granting the wishes of the child/ little boy as the protagonist in the story.

Firstly, Fairly Odd Parents, a nickelodeon cartoon series which shares a story of a young boy Timmy who has a couple of fairies as his 'parents' while his real parents were busy with their lives. They often granted his wish with their magic stick. 

Meanwhile Doraemon is a Japanese anime series about a robot cat which came from the future and stays at a young boy named Nobita. Doraemon provide futuristic advance tools to counter any problem Nobita had in his daily life.   

All the more obvious things in their stories are about sharing the common premise of a young boy with his childhood problems such as lack of love from their parents, being bullied by friends, lack of self confidence, daydreamer and more. 

However, the moral value of the story is that nothing can replace what should be there for them and their childhood, not even granting their wishes to fill the void and turn it into real happiness they need. This is my personal point of view as an adult though. Who knows perhaps the creator only want to describe what ifs scenario for children entertainment if they ever get some miracles like this in their lives and I think too much about it. 
 

Little Krishna & Choota Bheem ( Indian Animation & Cartoon TV series)

 Little Krishna is an original 13 standalone episodes animated television series based on the Legend of Hindu deity Krishna. The story revolved around little Krishna as a toddler and then grew bigger as a boy and his ability in defeating all his enemies from monster to other evil things. Despite the good messages the series tried to convey to their audience, however, it was criticized due to some part of the scenes which were inappropriate and might expose to violence for children when Krishna dismissed his enemies. I watched this series in one local TV a few years ago and considered this as a mere entertainment since I'm an adult myself and I do agree some scenes might not be a good thing to show for underage viewers although it is truly based on the true and known Krishna's legend. 

As for Chhota Bheem, it is an Indian cartoon series about a 9 years old strong boy and his friends who help people in their village when the problems occurred anytime. It was also aired in local TV after the little Krishna back then if I'm not mistaken. It was a more proper series for children due to its relation with daily life. 

Both series were famous in India. Personally, I like Little Krishna better than Chhota Bheem, because the animation was good and enjoyable in my eyes to see and also the story was deeper than just any children story. These are my fan art drawings for both series that I did last year.      

Skibidi Toilet & Italian Brainrot Anomali

I drew these fan art drawings because of my nieces' requests. To be honest, I have no idea what are those characters and how weird their appearances are. 

 

Skibidi Toilet was famous a couple of years back from social media stream. It was a game with anthropomorphic shape or a combination of human body with lifeless things such as toilet with human head inside it or human body with camera or other tools as his/her head. 

 

Meanwhile, Italian brainrot anomali was famous after artificial intelligent (AI) application started to become common to use among people. Again, it was about combining things and living creatures into weird characters. Everything we can imagine is somehow possible but it was destructive to the brain itself for how useless it is. Perhaps it was for fun initially but it rather became disturbing as time goes by. Therefore, it would be better not to let the young ones indulged into something like this for far too much and too long due to its effects. As the one who work on art field, something like this somehow ruined my imagination and aesthetically destroyed the original purpose of each creatures and things they messed up as those characters.

 

Some Famous Greek Mythology I draw in My Youtube Channel

 

Here are some of my Greek mythology drawings that I made a few years ago. I chose some of famous Greek mythology or at least the stories which I like as a life lesson. Started from Hades & Persephone, Narcissus & Echo, Eros & Psyche, Orpheus & Eurydice, Medusa and Arachne. I also tell these myths in two languages, English and Bahasa Indonesia. Actually I made more and they came from other different countries' folklore or legends. I might post another one for this next time.
 

Annual Bday Drawing as a gift for long time Online friend

I met her in one online fan website for Naruto in 2008 and we've been talking through chat online since then. After all these years, a lot of changes in internet culture and several anime, we've come to a special tradition related to our own birthday. We decided to give each other a wish gift in form of a custom drawing every year or annually. We made it based on what we want every year which mostly revolved around our favorite anime characters, our new hobby or other random things. 

 

Here are some drawings I made for her throughout the last 5 years although we've been doing it more than that and other collaboration drawings as well. She's currently into One piece anime and its characters, therefore, it has been there for most of the drawings or all anyway. 

 

 

 

AISCREAM TREND in Drawing

I drew it on a whim just because the song kept playing almost in all mainstream social medias along with some videos or at least some people who followed the trend that time.

I drew once with the reference of the official picture but the 2nd drawing was my own idea for it. All of it just for fun.

Spongebob Characters as Anime Guys in Drawing

 Some times a few months ago, I came up with this fun idea to draw. I wanted to imagine some characters from Spongebob Squarepants series in anime look. So, I chose four characters which were Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward and Plankton to turn into anime guys and these were the result for them. 

Surprisingly it was fun to do and I did one other type of drawing like this for anime girls from Powerpuff girls. I might add the drawing for it later. 

LABUBU: A Monster Doll went Viral since Last Year

 

Labubu was created by Kasing Lung, a Hong Kong-based artist now living in Belgium, and was inspired by ancient European fairy tales, particularly elf legends, when he was a child as quoted from one article last year. It first appeared in 2013, and in 2019, Kasing Lung partnered with Chinese retailer Pop Mart to produce and market the toy all over the country. 

It went viral because one of the famous member of K-pop girl band Blackpink, Lisa, showed her labubu doll on her social media which considered as indirect representative of toy culture and quite inspiring for designers to create new, unique and engaging characters for public to enjoy. 

This is my fan art drawing as requested by my little niece.

Jiji's Evil Eye ( Dandadan) and Akaza (Demon Slayer)

This was a random fan art drawing that I did back then. It was like a sudden urge to draw them both together since both of them played important part in their anime series recently. 

Jiji's Evil Eye from anime Dandadan was introduced in the second season after Jiji got possessed by Evil Eye while struggling to fight the worm monster in earlier episodes. The appearance and agility of this character's form is far superior with super strength and uncontrollable when he fought and made sure he defeat his opponent. He then, can be stopped after someone pours a hot water on his body. This part was inspired by Ranma1/2 anime. He would turn back into evil eye when he got cold water on his body even only a little. He can not being get rid of from Jiji so far since Jiji was the one who first offer his body to be used out of pity. Therefore, his character can't be define as totally good as Okarun's devil mode but more like shady in between good and evil. 

Meanwhile Akaza is one of the upper demon in Demon Slayer anime series which was the 'kindest' among all demons since he chose not to kill women and children to feed himself. He also basically fight out of duty and not because he was a bad person from his human era. He lost his past memories and being reminded of his life while fighting Tanjiro and Gyu. He in the end chose to be destroyed instead of continue fighting after he remembered everything. He was a likable demon character from the series.

 

 

 

ALICE IN BORDERLAND Manga and Live Action Series on Netflix

I randomly drawing another fan art based on its official manga cover a few weeks ago in my break time. 

I like this Netflix's manga-based dystopian series better compared to Squid Game. Alice in borderland is somewhat unpredictable and not merely depend on luck but also do some thinking to survive. For me, Japan is always better in this genre since long time ago. Although so far I Just watched season 1 and 2, but the season 3 is already available to be watched.

3 ANIME WITH DEVILS OR DEMONS (Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer & Chainsaw Man)

 

First of all would be Jujutsu kaisen. It is about the curse's energy derived from negative emotions such as fear, anger and hatred and resulting in the birth of curses/noroi, a race of spiritual beings whose primary desire is to bring harm to humanity. They are shown as gruesome monsters, ghosts and yokai/ demons.

Jujutsu sorcerers or shamans are the people who have the power to control the flow of cursed energy and use it against those beings. The main character is Itadori Yoji, an orphan who accidentally swallows part of the body of sukuna. The strongest curse ever or the main villain throughout the series.

 

Next, Kimetsu no yaiba/ Demon Slayer, with Taisho era as the background story, there is a secret society called demon slayers who have fought against demons for centuries. The demons themselves are former humans who were turned into demons by Muzan Kibutsuji as the main villain with his blood. The characteristic of the demon who can't stand the sunlight with red eyes is pretty similar to vampire, although they don't just drink blood but consume human flesh too.They were insanely strong with their blood demon art and are able to regenerate unless being decapitated by special weapons from nichirin. The demon slayers themselves are ordinary humans however they have special breathing style techniques to use to battle those demons. The main character is Kamado Tanjiro, who has only one purpose when he joins the demon slayer corps, which is to kill muzan and help his sister Nezuko find the cure to make her back as ordinary human instead of a devil as she is.

 

The last one is Chainsaw Man. 

The story is set in a world where devils/akuma are born from human fears ( ring a bell?) It also borrowed from a religious story about the 4 horsemen, and all the human disasters from war, weapons and illness. Humans who want to use the devil's power, will make contracts and sacrifice something from them to the devils. Basically to fight or kill devils they use other devil's power as devil hunters. The chainsaw devil is one of the strongest devil who can consume other devil and prevent it from reincarnate back to life. The main character, denji who is supposed to be dead but back to life after pochita the chainsaw devil, albeit the strongest devil lend his heart to him.

 

Similarities: demons/devils, special force to fight against it, ordinary human vs immortal devils, orphan main characters, mc's sad life background, they don't really show special talent in the beginning just a strong will and hardwork. Always have a black haired sidekicks.and most of all, the main problem is from humans themselves as the main source of the problem itself and the beginning of everything.

Hello Jadoo (Korean Cartoon Series)

 

One day my little niece asked me to draw one character from a Korean animated series she recently watched at that time. The series title is Hello Jadoo. I haven't got a time to watch it yet but it got really good review related to parenting and story itself. 

 

So, Jadoo Choi is the main protagonist of Hello Jadoo. She is a 10 year old elementary school student who while attending her classes finds time for adventures.  

Jadoo is a headstrong little tomboy who always tries to do the right thing. While she is a little stubborn and won't hesitate to punch or kick a bully she is fiercely protective of her friends and family. Her loud personality contrasts well with her best friend Minji Gim's personality and more quiet demeanor. Additionally her family reflects her chaotic attitude with her equally headstrong mother, lazy father, and spoiled younger siblings defining her happy and tough personality. Even though curious Jadoo can get a little adorably violent she tries helping others whenever able to. Her amazing character attracts many friends and the occasional suitor, bringing with them new hijinks and fun. 

K-Pop's 1st Animation Movie on Netflix in my PoV: KPOP DEMON HUNTERS

This is actually an animated movie with a simple lighthearted story about a group of girls who have a mission to prevent demons from consuming the people again with their music and it has been done for hundreds of years based on Korean culture which turned into K-pop in the modern days. 

 The demon leader wanted to break the spell and ask his demons if any of them had any idea. Then, a demon guy appeared with some of his friends and told him that he just needed to be the competitor of those demon hunter girls, Huntrix. They disguise themselves as a boy band named Saja boys. 

Long story short, the main girl is half demon, getting close with the demon boy band leader, sparks a love hate thing, battle in songs and demon-real world realms, and all ends well except the demons with sacrifice of love. There are a little bit of background stories, Kpop songs and dances, crazy fans, funny demons. Truly not to be taken seriously because this is as simple as that. I like the costumes, the cat reminded me of Alice in wonderland's cat, the girl band and boy band reminded me of the current most known kpop bands of Blackpink and BTS. That's all. My sister told me that the story is as light as Barbie's animation stories. Just enjoy it without thinking too hard. These are my fan art drawings based on my niece's requests.

 

Tokyo Revengers - My first impression on Live Action Movie

Honestly, I did not know this anime and manga until I watched the first live action movie with real actors instead of the anime itself. The movie was good and managed to spark my curiosity to know further about this series.

The manga was published from 2017 to 2022 and created by Ken Wakui and I already put it on my list for reading since then. I was impressed of how closely the reel characters to the anime or manga characters and the story was kind of inspiring in a way, although it won't ever happen in real life. The main character has the ability to go back to the past and somehow 'fixed' the bitter fate of some people around him. This is the fantasy part which would never happen to us in reality but at least the 'what ifs' in this movie reminded us of how important it is to learn who matters for us and being mature about everything that happen in our lives. We can only plan things but the final result is not necessarily as we want all the time.

Luffy And One Piece Anime Flag in Indonesia

 What's wrong with this One Piece's flag in Indonesian 80's independence day celebration on August 17, 2025? 

A few days ago I drew this fan art drawing. With Luffy holding 2 flags facing 3 big characters which represent greed (pig), corruption (rat) and play (clown). Big or giant shapes are as powerful, animals and clowns as their behavior and deeds - being greedy, corrupt and playing with people's lives. Their ears are covered because they don't want to hear and tend to ignore others. and Luffy as a symbol of hope everyone is wishing to have although it is nearly impossible. 

It was meant for criticism, expression and agony of what is currently happening in one big nation close to my heart and mind. Instead of taking care of its citizens and making them live in peace, a bunch of people with power choose to shake their lives badly to the core. Fiction is mostly a reflection of reality and a true hero is needed to turn it upside down for good. However, sadly, in real life it's not that easy and simple with a fairy happy ending. Disclaimer: This drawing is Not having even the slightest intention to do something as to fight or provoke people but to raise awareness and hope that those who have the power will  come to their senses and have a heart to do something better for the sake of this country. 

80 years of independence is not a short amount of time to reflect, learn, revise, rebuild this country for the better. This is a wealthy and super rich country with natural resources and abundant young generations to work together with good leaders. If only they can work this out. Is it a dream? For now, it seems so. A far cry for a bright future and prosperous nation in the hands of shallow minded people who only think of their bellies and families. I pray I can wake up from this nightmare soon. 

As the former 1st president Soekarno once said: My fight was easier because it was to expel the colonizers, but your fight will be more difficult because it is against your own people.

4 WAYS TO RECOGNIZE SOMEONE'S TRUE CHARACTER: with famous anime characters

Well, I had this idea to draw a certain quote with anime characters who are fit to be the representation of each sentences. Here is the quote:

" You don't know a person until:

1. You travel with them

2. Money is involved between you

3. Deal with them while they're are angry

4. You live with them "

For the tagline of this quote, I choose Itachi Uchiha from Naruto who is known as mysterious, misunderstood but actually a good character and truly fit for it.

1st point is represented by the trio Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke from Demon Slayer who are known to travel together so often in the anime. 

The 2nd point is described with Gojo Satoru who is known as one of the most famous characters in Jujutsu Kaisen and it was said that he is rich in the anime.

For the 3rd point, Naruto and Sakura had been famous for being like this where Sakura was always mostly angry and annoyed with him but deep down they shared one of the best friendships in the anime.

The last point, these Spy X Family characters truly fit for it since it is the base of their story. 3 really different characters with their shady backgrounds are just doing fine living together in the anime. So, here are the results of the quote and why I chose them in the drawing.
